Our goal is to educate you about the purpose and function of many of the Crusader marine engine parts required to keep your Crusader engine running smoothly. Whether you're a veteran seaman or a novice, one thing you all know is that a boat comes equipped with hundreds of moving parts.

No one person can know everything there is to know about the proper functioning of every boat part. That's why we've tapped the collective wisdom of our long-time technical experts to share their knowledge and expertise.

What You Need to Know About the Crusader Pierburg Electric Fuel Pump

The Crusader Pierburg electrical/mechanical fuel pump is designed specifically for Crusader fuel-injected engines. It has a motor which drives a pumping device to move the fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel system on the engine.

Why are Pierburg fuel pumps not interchangeable between marine engine manufacturers?
Each specific engine application has volume and pressure requirements along with mounting and fuel line needs. Manufacturers design and engineer fuel pumps to the specific engine requirements.

Like other electric fuel pumps using fresh fuel, adding a marine fuel additive and a storage/stabilizing product in the offseason will protect it. That’s the best way to extend the life and maintain the fuel pump.
