What You Need to Know About the Crusader Rear Engine Mount
The Crusader rear engine mount is the attaching component between the engine/transmission and the hull of the boat. It’s a fully adjustable mount which can move in and out away from the engine and up and down to raise and lower the engine. It’s what’s used to adjust the engine position to provide alignment to the propeller shaft.
It’s also an isolation device. There are rubber isolators in the assembly which help reduce vibration and engine noise into the hull.
There are no serviceable items for this product. If the rubber fails due to wear and tear, the whole mount needs replacing.
It’s a big deal if this mount were to fail. If you think about the propeller shaft coming through the bottom of the boat and the prop on the end of that, it's what's pushing the boat forward. That propeller shaft is attached to the transmission/engine and the only connection between it and the hull are the engine mounts.
Engine mounts represent that critical point of contact with the boat. The four points of the mount on the engine to the hull are what keeps the engine from being pushed forward inside the hull. So, all the load, all that torque, all that horsepower is being transferred through the mounts used to push the boat forward.
