What You Need to Know About the Jabsco 37041-0010 Marine Toilet Macerator Motor/Pump
This Jabsco marine toilet macerator motor/pump is the replacement motor and macerator assembly which fits the toilet for service replacement. Because it’s electrical and mechanical, it can be damaged through improper operation or from simple wear and tear.
The lifespan of this macerator pump could be just a few years if it were used constantly or could be decades, depending on use.
This macerator pump is actually an electric motor which drives two separate devices on the toilet. One is a chopper which helps break up the waste and pumps it into a holding tank. The other is a water pump that brings in water for flushing the toilet bowl.
This macerator is used on a number of Jabsco toilets -- one of the most popular marine toilet brands around. Jabsco is a widely accepted and respected manufacturer with decades of experience providing marine plumbing components, and a vast array of boat builders use their product.
This macerator can be repaired, and you can order parts like the motor, the impeller, and the housing individually. But, considering the time for repair and the relative cost, it’s often simpler to bolt on a whole new assembly. If you bought the component parts, it would run about the same cost, but then you need time and the knowledge to disassemble it and put it back together.
For the end user, it’s easier to buy the assembly. If you’re hiring a boatyard to do the repair at $100/hr., it doesn’t make sense to spend the repair time and another $100 for parts when a few bolts and wire connections are all you need to replace it.
